2022 Irish Academy of Management (IAM) Annual Conference,
NUI Galway

Hosted by J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics NUI Galway

Co-chairs: Dr Majella Giblin and Dr Denise Holland

As businesses and organisations move to place the planet, people as well as profit at the centre of what they do, we need to better understand what this requires from leaders, managers and organisations. Sustainable leadership includes being authentic and committed, having a long-term perspective, as well as instilling and driving a meaningful organisational purpose for the public and private good. Business Schools and academics can play a key role in leading for a public good purpose and in doing so, educating around sustainable leadership and management. While it can be argued that conventional management and leadership theories fall short of what is needed, this conference will address questions around how organisations (including businesses and business schools) can lead with public good purpose, what sustainable leadership means and the challenges it will present as we move further into the 21st Century.
